Kentucky pitching to Nation’s Best 2013: Jabari Parker

Jabari Parker-X

John Calipari wasn’t just going to let an elite talent like Jabari Parker pass him by without putting forth a committed effort to land him, regardless of what other schools are involved. That proved true yesterday when Kentucky officially offered the Class of 2013 stud of out Simeon HS (IL) while at Parker’s open gym session. Calipari did not come alone however. He was said to have a number of staff members with him in attendance.

Although other elite schools like Duke, UNC, and Kansas are already involved with Parker, that didn’t scare Kentucky’s John Calipari. In recent years, Calipari’s Wildcats have dominated the recruiting scene and they continue to go hard after the top talent. As you recall, last year Coach Cal pulled the top talent of the 2011 class, Chicago-native Anthony Davis. Previous to that, Calipari plucked Derrick Rose out of Illinois and shipped him down to Memphis, where he was tenured at the time.

Jabari’s father, Sonny Parker, was quoted yesterday as saying that Coach Calipari said Jabari is their “#1 recruit for 2013”.

No questions asked, Jabari Parker is the cream of the crop in the 2013 class. He is referred by most as the best player in the nation regardless of class. His future commitment to a school will send shockwaves across the nation and change the landscape on the nation recruiting scene. While some speculate Parker has his favorites, others believe his recruitment remains wide-open.

Louisville also threw their hat in the mix earlier this week when HC Rick Pitino offered Parker.

Parker holds offers from a plethora of schools but among those most notable, they include Duke, UNC, Kansas, Michigan State, Illinois, Washington, Louisville, and Kentucky.
